Marine collagen is an animal protein, derived from fish waste (skin, scales, cartilage).
These by-products undergo several chemical reactions to obtain hydrolyzed peptides of animal origin (i.e., small molecules of assembled amino acids).
These molecules vary in size between 1000 and 5000 Da; the smaller the molecule, the more assimilable it is.
Cheap products are generally around 5000 Da.
The problem with marine collagen is its fishy taste and/or smell, which intensify over time.
The solution is to additives to mask this: flavors, sweeteners...
The Vegcol ingredient, which is part of my Elixir N°1, is a 100% plant-based ingredient.
It is an aqueous extraction from plants, followed by an enzymatic reaction with papain (an active ingredient from papaya) to obtain hydrolyzed peptides of plant origin.
These peptides have been analyzed for their amino acid assembly, and they have a profile similar to those of type I or type III collagen (i.e., the collagen found in the skin).
Their size is 1000 Da, which makes them highly assimilable.
This is why we can speak of biomimetic collagen, meaning it mimics collagen.
This ingredient benefits from two clinical studies, one of which proves its effectiveness and was conducted on 244 people, demonstrating an improvement in skin quality (reduction of crow's feet wrinkles, hydration, etc.).
