Azelaic acid is an organic acid widely used in dermatology due to its high antibacterial properties, capable of counteracting and reducing the appearance and growth of bacterial colonies within pores. 

Azelaic acid not only has antibacterial properties, its chemical properties also give it anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties, inhibition of keratinocyte proliferation, and depigmentation.
